Raise your glass!

I know everyone is eager to get to the buffet and the dance floor, but now that everyone on the guest list has arrived, I think it's time for a toast to start the festivities.

I'll be quick, I promise:

Welcome everyone to our First Anniversary Party! All our guests this evening know that without their help we could never have come this far. They have inspired us, carried us and given us reason to do what we do. From the bottom of our hearts we thank them for sharing their lives with us and allowing us to venture into their worlds and tell their stories. Without them we would not all be together this evening and Star-Crossed Romance would not exist.

There are good ships,
and there are wood ships,
The ships that sail the sea.
But the best ships, are friendships,
And may they always be.

Eat, drink and be merry everyone, for tomorrow it's back to the books!

Here, here Jennifer! Well said!

And may we have many more years and shindigs together in the future. May our shelves runneth over with books, and our brains never be vacant for the perfect words. And when calamity calls, may we know we always have chums to turn to even in the darkest hour.

*Skylar raises her glass in salute* Laugh, love and live as if the future was now.

I'm happy to report that I finished my contest entry today as scheduled, in spite of all the drama, so I think I may be lazy tomorrow. But Monday, it's back to the clickity-click of fingers to plastic grind.

For now, it's time to boogie down. Can I get a round of Mustang Sally, better yet To the Moon & Back!

To every faithful lover true, I wish a trusting lady too."

Devyn MacGregor of Altered Destiny quotes this popular toast by Allan Ramsay of Ayr.

May the best you've ever seen
Be the worst you'll ever see;
May a moose ne'er leave yer girnal
Wi' a teardrop in his e'e.
May ye aye keep hale and hearty
Till ye're auld enough tae dee,
May ye aye be just as happy
As I wish ye aye tae be.

(girnal - meal chest; moose - mouse

And me? I say To another year! Drink up! :D

I'll content myself with being very happy that Ione didn't embarrass herself too badly, although what she and Den were doing off in the cavelike niche with the red lighting, I have no idea...::whistles innocently::

Pardon the Galactic Paparazzi incident, though. Ione does apologize profusely and will autoprint any holo-copies of the rags for any of the other guests. She's also offered to teach the lyrics to "The Starship Venus" to any of the fine bards that graced the event.
