What is your fantasy? Is it werewolves, shapeshifters, vampires, part human - part animal creatures that you enjoy getting swept away with?

I love the paranormal genre. Ever since reading my first Karen Marie Moning book about magical Highlanders who could travel through time, I’ve been lost and haven’t looked back.

That’s not to say that I never want to read a contemporary novel again. Of course not, it just has to be a very special book to grab my attention if it doesn’t have some incredible male with some extraordinary talent -- If you know what I mean?

We’ve all met the good-looking guy next door, or the hunk in the next cubicle at work. They’re great, and sweet, and would probably take me out to a nice movie and dinner. But I want a night with the guy who can bend steel with one hand, save the world from an evil demon, and then take me back to his place and show me…well, you know, something you’ve never experienced before.

That’s the draw of a good paranormal romance. It’s something you can’t find next door or at work. When I sit down to read, I want to find a world that’s different than the place I wake up to each morning. One that’s full of adventure and heart-stopping sexual tension.

I’ve mentioned Karen Marie Moning and her Highlander series. She also has a new Fever series that’s superb. Angela Knight and Lora Leigh are two other authors who do an excellent job of introducing you to characters you’d never find in an office cubicle. Then there’s Larissa Ione, I adore her Demonica series. She’s brings a whole new definition to playing doctor. Whew!

These four women have truly been an inspiration for me in the genre.

My new release, Desire to Die For introduces you to five males of my all time favorite species: vampires. If tortured, sexy alpha male vampires make you yearn, then the Warriors of the Enclave have been waiting for you. I hope I can accomplish for you a little of what my mentor’s have done for me: give you an adventure and love affair that sweeps you away, and a ride that you never forget.

Kenric St. James wants revenge. After two centuries of denying his body’s needs and with vengeance finally at hand, the last thing he expected to find was the one woman he burns to claim as his own. If only giving her his love wouldn’t surely mean her death.

All Emily Ross desires is time alone to learn who she is without a man and to save the home that holds her heart. The last thing she wants is another controlling, dominant male calling all the shots, in bed and out. Never would she have thought stopping her car one night to save a dying man might change her mind, and her life, forever. But is what they have, their desire, worth dying for.

What species stimulate your fantasies? And who are your favorite authors that bring those characters to life? I’d love to hear from you.

HI Jessica! Your blurb intriguied me so much that I had to go read you Fabulous excerpt. You've got a Terrific concept here! I hope we see more about the Warriors of the Enclave in the future.

As much as vamps make my blood boil, I have to say I love my shifters! But the paramormal world has always kept me on the edge of my seat. There's so many possibilites to plot with!
As far as some of my must-read authors: Sherrilyn Kenyon, Lynne Connolly, Gena Showalter, Candace Haven, Dakota Cassidy, are just a few off the top of my list. LOL

I adored KMM's Highlander Series. When I have a blah week, I can still pick up Immortal Highlander for a laugh and a satisfying "Ahh." I've read it at least a dozen times.

Best of luck with your new release.

Your book sounds great, Jessica! Vampires are my favorite paranormal characters. I like Laurell K. Hamilton, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Angela Knight and Lora Leigh. That's all I'm going to list because there are really too many.

Jessica Lee said...

Hi Stephanie! Wow, thanks so much, and yes, I'm working on book two for the Enclave. Working title: Dark Desire at Midnight.
I love shifters too, in fact, you might be surprised as to what all you find inside the world of the Enclave...hmmm?
That is an excellent bunch of authors you mentioned. Love Ms. Kenyon! Oh, and Gena Showalter with her Lords of the Underworld. Have you tired Larissa Ione and her Demonica series? HOT! Especially her third book and the character Wraith. Yummy!
Thanks for stopping by and good luck! :)

Hi Gwynln, Oh my, I love KMM. Just finished Dreamfever this past weekend. Argh! Going to be a long wait for the next one. I did LOVE Immortal, but I have to say my favorite is the Dark Highlander. OMG! I adored Dageus. *sigh* LOL

Hi Honoria, Thanks for stopping by! You know,I have yet to read Laurell K. And I have heard tremendous things about her series. But the others you mentioned are always on my Buy list. Thanks again for your time.

I love paranormals because they usually involve a tortured soul and extreme danger--two elements to make the heart race.
I loved your commentary on the genre and your book looks positively wonderful.

Hey girl:
Love the Warriors of the Enclave. Since I've already had the pleasure of reading it, please exclude me from the contest.

Love Christina Dodd, Laurie Handelhand, and Sherrilyn Kenyon.

Jessica Lee said...

Hi Sarah, Thanks so much, I'm glad you liked the blog and the sound of DTDF! I'm happy you stopped by. And I totally agree with your reasons to love paranormal. It does get the blood pumping.

Hi Debbie. Thanks for the comment, my friend! Love Christina Dodd as well and of course, Sherrilyn Kenyon. Can't wait to see her again at M&M!

Hi Jessica, your book sounds like a winner.

I have a great fondness for shifter stories, Nalini Singh, Patricia Briggs, LKH, Eileen Wilks, and Lora Leigh, to name a few, have some of my favorite characters. Love disappearing into the worlds that they create.

Joey W Hill does an amazing job with her vampire series, and of course, Karen Moning's world's are always at the top of my favorites list.

I love vampire books. I read ones that are nonfiction, paranormal romance and horror. Sometimes I like the really intense books and other times I like the lighter ones. Fortunately there are planty to choose from. I've read hundreds of vampire books but I'm always looking for more. Some of my favorites are Kerrelyn Sparks's and Michelle Rowen's vampire series.

Hi Cathy M! Thanks for taking the time to stop by, and thanks for nice compliment about my book. Excellent author's you've mentioned here. I've read Nalini and Lora Leigh. The other's I heard fabulous things about. I've also heard rave reviews about Joey Hill. The covers are amazing, that I know for sure.

Hi Colleen! Now you're the real deal vampire fan. Whoo-hoo! I love it. :)
I tend to always lean more to the dark side in my vampire reading. I think I love the more edgey, dark and erotic feel to vampires. Humour can be a nice change, and I do try to add a dose in my work to help lighten the mood every once in a while when things have been too dark for too long.

I really like the book trailer and the story line. I love paranormal and is about all I read, for the same reasons to get my fantasy fix. To escape and play on the dark side for a bit!
Checking out your website because I just found me a new author!
Thanks and Have a Great Day!

Jessica Lee said...

Whoo-hoo, Chris J.! LOL Thank you!

That's exactly what I'm talking with paranormal romance. It gives you a few hours away from the mundane of reality, and you get to go along for the ride with a couple who are experiencing the extraordinary.
Thanks for stopping by!

I've already read DTDF and loved it!

It's hard to pick one paranormal creature over another but if you're going to twist my arm and make me...

I'll go with shifters and everyone knows how I worship at the altar of Lora Leigh. LOL I did however read a wonderful vampire book recently by Cynthia Eden that impressed the hell out of me.

Hurry up and finish that book so I can read it! *g*

Jessica Lee said...

Thanks, Eliza!! I working on book two, I promise :) Won't be too much longer...
And I'm right behind you there at that altar for LL, too. I have Cynthia Eden in my TBR, which seems to be growing by leaps and bounds lately.

I seem to be evenly split between vampires and weres. I just read through the Sookie Stackhouse books again and I love Carrie Vaugh's Kitty. She's a werewolf.I also enjoy Lynsay Sands vampire stories. And just for something a little different, I enjoy The Rogue Angel series.

Jessica Lee said...
