Patti -- Cover Art
Patti, you've gotten some great cover art on your books (Dorchester does a fabulous job). I hear complaints all the time about covers. Some don't like the 'clinch'. Some don't like the 'cartoon' style illustration. Some don't like covers without people. You obviously can't please everyone all the time but...I know as an author you don't have final say but, if you did, what would you choose? What do you think is the 'perfect' cover art for a futuristic?

Boy, Lynda, that's a tough question. My Eternal Nights cover is fabulous. I love the focus on the hero with the kind of otherworldly buildings behind him. I also really, really loved my cover for Through a Crimson Veil, although I consider that book more alternate reality than futuristic. I guess I'm lucky that the publisher takes care of the art because I wouldn't be able to choose. :-)

Hey, I specialize in tough questions, LOL. So far you've had great covers--I wouldn't be able to choose either :-)
Skylar,
Ravyn's Flight had a beautiful piece of art on the cover, but it had no relationship to my book. I don't know the correct technical term, but it was premade art. By that I mean it was already drawn/painted and the publisher picked up the rights to use it for my book. My biggest disappointment was that Cherif bore zero resemblance to my Damon.
I love the cover for Crimson Veil--it's my favorite, although Eternal Nights is a close second--but I don't know why I'm the only one with both the hero and heroine on the cover. The only thing I can think of is that during the meeting to discuss the cover, the fact that I write the h/h as a team was brought up. That's a wild stab, though, since I've never been privy to those discussions. :-)
The cover for EN is a little more muted than it shows up on-screen, but I'm hoping this gorgeous guy on the front catches readers' eyes. And that they want to buy the book. :-)
