Question for Patti - From Xandra

Hi Patti! Thanks for blogging with us here at Star-Crossed! Hope you're enjoying your stay! My question is one of those odd ones, and it's pure speculation (which isn't all that out of place in speculative romance, LOL!) - where do you see futuristics going in the future?

Hi Xandra,

Yes, I am having fun with y'all!

Boy, the future of futuristics is a tough question. Right now, I'm hopeful that the subgenre can make a leap forward. There are so many SF shows on television that are doing well and Susan Kearney made the USA Today Bestseller list with at least one of her futuristic books for Tor. I'm hoping this means the subgenre is gaining more audience.

I just can't forget, though, that the last time futuristics were growing they ended up crashing and burning and there were hardly any new ones for years. I guess I'm cautiously optimistic at this point.

Did I answer your question? I was guessing that you were asking about market, but maybe that wasn't what you were interested in.

Patti - you answered right on (sorry this reply is a few days old--we've been renovating our house and my internet connection went wibbly when we popped off a baseboard somewhere...)
