Good morning all! We have a super imaginative author visiting us today. I've reviewed her book - Touch If You Dare and loved it! You can see the review here. Also, Sourcebooks is offering a copy to two Star-Crossed readers so continue on to find out how to enter the drawing!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When Star-Crossed Romance asked me to blog about how I came up with the world of my Soulfire series, I wasn't sure exactly what to say. To help brainstorm, I decided to write down a few key points of the world of TOUCH IF YOU DARE, the second book in the Soulfire series.
The men: Immortal warriors who have been tortured by Death's grandma for 150 years in the Den of Womanly Pursuits. Men who can wield a pair of knitting needles as well as they can vanquish a demon with a sword. Not that they will admit that. Ever. Denial only goes so far, however… If a man's got a talent with a curling iron, he can hide it for only so long…
The bad guy: A suicidal Cupid who makes a deal with Death to become the world's first Reaper who kills with love. No one will ever be afraid of dying again…
Another bad guy: A hot sexy stud named the Godfather, who has given up at love because he orgasms every woman to death. Unfortunately for the heroine, he has just fallen for her sister…
Our intrepid lead couple: Jarvis Swain, a warrior with a talent for French braiding, who is also the Guardian of Hate. He's on the fast track toward succumbing to the hate in an explosion that will be not-so-good for the world at large. His only chance to save the world? Get some love from his wayward brother, Cupid, who is more interested in his new future as an assassin than love. Jarvis's only chance? Teaming up with Reina Fleming, Death's tender-hearted assistant, who will either bring him to his knees or save him forever.
As I jotted down the above notes about the series, I started to chuckle. Now I realized why Star-Crossed Romance asked me that question! Okay, yes, so it's not the most traditional world, with vampires, werewolves, witches or demons (though a few of those do make unexpected cameos). But, you see, that's the point. I love reading paranormals of every kind, and I wanted to bring all of those elements into my stories.
At the same time, however, I wanted to deliver the unexpected. My goal with the Soulfire series was to create a story that took the paranormal genre and twisted it into new, unpredictable directions. I wanted to surprise the reader, by creating a powerful, sexy story about the triumph of love in the most unusual of circumstances.
For example, the dark, alpha tortured hero is deliciously yummy, but I wanted to do something more. I wanted to give these guys an unexpectedly soft side that torments them as much as it gives them peace. Each warrior in this series has his own special talent, one that he's embarrassingly addicted to for his mental well-being, be it knitting, cross-stitching or flower arranging. I wanted to show that a man can be a bad ass warrior, and still tap into his gentle nature without losing that which makes him so powerful and appealing.
As a writer, and also as a reader, I love the creativity of taking the known and expected and doing something new with it. What book have you read lately that surprised you, or had an unexpected twist on something? Share it in the comments, and a lucky commentator will receive a free copy of TOUCH IF YOU DARE!
*Also, the first book in this series, KISS AT YOUR OWN RISK, is available as a FREE download from Amazon and B&N through 7/11. Today is the last day of the promo, so hurry over now and download it before the price goes back up!*
He’s just about the hottest warrior she’s ever seen…
Reina Fleming really appreciates a man who’s on a mission—especially when he’s a badass warrior doing his best to impress her. And Jarvis is charmed by the way Reina’s magic touch can soothe his dark side.
But when Jarvis’s attention puts her job, her home, and her family in danger, Reina has to decide whether love is worth the price…
Enter the nonstop, action-packed world of Stephanie Rowe’s love stories—you’ll never think of the manly arts in the same way again.

Hey, just stopping by to show my love for this book! It was the first book by Stephanie Rowe I have read. I loved it! I am a dialogue fan and it is fast paced and snarky. Loads of fun.
I love a HEA...So when I read Chloe Neill's Latest I just about fell over with the death of a main character. I still find myself yelling:"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"!

Hi Sharon, thanks for stopping by. You are the best!
Oh, Cindy, that would drive me crazy, too. I'm all about the HEA for sure!
Hi Stephanie, thanks for stopping by! Their talents actually just emerged on their own. Each one was just a natural fit for who they were.
Victoria, that's great! I'm so glad you were able to get it while it is still free!
Great storyline, I just picked up the first book too!
I am almost finished reading Vampire Instinct by Joey W Hill, and have gotten very teary with this story, which was a surprise. Joey writes amazingly erotic and emotional stories, but the death of a character in this story was just so sad, and not what I expected. It actually added another level to the story that ended up working for me.
